Kid's Triathlon Info
The kid's triathlon will start at 3:00pm.  We will divide kids up at the swim count in corral based on their age and will send them of in waves.  Please have your child over at the swim count in corral at 2:45am to receive any last minute instructions.   Kids may pick up their packets at any of the designated packet pick up times noted above as well as their race day  September 10th. This is where your child will be assigned their bib number and swim cap.  Body marking will take place next to the swim corral.  Kids can place their bikes in the transition area in the starting at 2:00pm   Find the TA map here.   Kids can still register for the race, but there are limited slots left.  They are first come, first serve.

Note to all athletes

What does a bag and clutter free transition area mean? This means you may bring your gear into the TA with a bag but then must remove your bag. After you have the gear you need in transition please remove your bags, buckets, wagons, carts and whatever you do not need to race with.  This ensures we have enough space for others around you.  Please make arrangements to give these things to a love one or place them into your vehicle.

What do you mean transition closes at 7:15am, but my race doesn't start until later. This means at 7:15am all athlete need to have everything they need to race for the start of the swim. (goggles, swim cap, wetsuit, etc.) You will not be able to enter or re-enter the transition until you are racing.  The transition will be staged and ready to go.

***Note-NEW as of 2010 - There will be a place in the transition area to pile up your bags, etc.  Please do not leave valuables in your bags.  You take the chance of them getting stolen.

Three options to stay warm before your wave starts:

Option 1) If the weather appears that is might be cold or unfavorable, please consider wearing some clothes that you might not care about to the swim start while you wait for your wave.  Before your wave starts you will have the opportunity to leave them in a pile  inside the corral and then we will donate all of these items to a shelter for the less fortunate.  See other green efforts Score This!!! has in place for its events.  CLICK HERE to find out more about Recycle This!!!

Option 2) Take the Hammer Nutrition bag that you receive at packet pick, write your name on it in Sharpie, stuff your clothes in it before your wave starts and we will transfer them to the volunteer tent.  You can go recover them after you have finished the race. Please do not put valuables in these bags.  They will be left unattended and Score This!!! will not be responsible for any stolen or missing items.

Option 3) Go back to your car or hotel or Steamboat Landing after the pre-race meeting

Notable Volunteers Girl Scout Troop 247

Remember those girls who pass out the water out the Score This!!! Multisport Series races?  Well this April they went to Mexico to work with Habitat for Humanity.  They have raised enough funds with their can drives, aid station work, meat raffles, cookie selling, and gift certificate raffles.  Bring those nickel refund bottles and cans in a bag to one of the Score This!!! Multisport Series events and they will take them back to the store.  Every nickel helps!!!  Please bring all bottle and can donations to the volunteer check in.

What Is Train For Treatment: The Finger Lakes Triathlon is the primary annual fundraiser for the Mary M.Gooley Hemophilia Center.  Every year we run a program called “Train For Treatment” which enables athletes to raise money for the Center via a secure donation web page as they train for the triathlon.  All of the money raised goes directly to the Mary M.Gooley Hemophilia Center for critical patient services and treatments.  Please visit www.hemocenter.org for more information on the Center.

How Do I Sign Up:

  1. Visit our main web page at www.active.com/donate/mmg2010
  2. Select “Become A Fundraiser” at top of page
  3. Follow the steps to set up your donation page
  4. Send the link to your page out to everyone that you know announcing that you are doing a triathlon for a great cause and ask them to donate
  5. Whenever logging back into your account to access your donation page use www.active.com/donate/mmg2010 and select "Become A Fundraiser" and then use the logins that you created.
What Are Some Things That I Can Put On My Donation Page:

1.      “Tri-Buddy” Program - You can raise money for the Center on behalf of one of the child patients that we treat.  We will assign one of our child patients to you (your “tri-buddy”) and send you their picture and profile on how they have overcome their bleeding disorder with the help of the Center.  You can then include this profile along with your own personal message on your donation page.  You will also have the ability to meet your “tri-buddy” sometime this summer if you want and if possible they will be there at the triathlon cheering you on.  It is a very rewarding program.

2.      You can raise money for the Center to help promote its message of health and fitness in our community.  The reason the Center chose a triathlon as its biggest annual fundraiser is that it is critical for people with Hemophilia to stay fit and active to help mitigate the effects of the condition.  To help broaden our appeal, we have decided to be advocates of this important message to the whole community and will use our resources to help promote it.

3.      You can raise money for the Center based on the great care that we provide and how we are a nationally recognized leader in the bleeding disorders community for our comprehensive care model and amazing staff.  The Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center is another example of excellence in our respective field coming out of the Greater Rochester/Finger Lakes Region – something we can all be proud of.

Please Contact Tom Wilmarth at thomas.wilmarth@rochestergeneral.org or call 585-662-4120 if you have any questions about TFT or need help setting up your donation page.  We can set up your donation page for you if you prefer - and then you just send out the link - what could be easier!
