This!!!
Very nice job on Tri Dunkirk. I was quite surprised by the venue. The run
along the waterfront was great, and while I expected the bike
course to be flat as a pancake, the rollers were just what was
needed to make it interesting. From my perspective, the
biggest downside to the race was the 7AM start. I'm sure
that's probably done to accommodate the F1 race, but for those
traveling from Rochester, it makes for and early and long day.
As an aside, I appreciate that you offer du's at your
multisport races. Although I started out in tri's and did
reasonably well, I concluded that swimming isn't really my
thing, so your du's offer a nice opportunity. Thanks ,Jim
(Tri Dunkirk 2011)
Hi Score This!!!,
Just wanted to give you a little feedback
from the Summer Sizzler.
1. First off, thank you for clearing the
seaweed from the course, it was much more enjoyable and
safer! I am a fairly strong swimmer but I have to admit I did
panic last year when I first hit that thick seaweed.
2. I thought the Time Trial Starts were a
great idea and from what I can tell, ran very smoothly. I did
a tri up in Canada the weekend before this one and they
started the same way.
3. Not specific to this tri, but I love
your new layout for the web site with being able to look at
who is signed up for events, results and everything else all
in one place.
4. I like the control you have over the
entering and exiting the TA, the TA at the one I did in Canada
while very nice and relaxing it was wide open to anyone and a
little too loosy goosy. They never actually closed entrance
into it before the race.
5. One piece of criticism, not really
criticism but factual information. The bike route is actually
longer than advertised. Instead of 17k or approximately 10.55
miles it is closer to 11.5 miles. While I don't have a
problem with the distance, the stats you report are not
exactly accurate. When I finished I was thrilled to have
averaged around 19.5 mph, according to my bike computer. Upon
reviewing my times on your results page I was baffled as to
why my average speed was only 18.0 mph. After contemplating
it for some time and thinking my bike computer was not as
accurate as I had thought, I finally concluded that your
results calculate the average mph using the actual
time obviously, but use the distance factor of 10.55 miles
instead of the actual distance of 11.5.
6. That was pretty disappointing that the
other parking lot was removed, but it wasn't to bad having to
use the one up next to the golf course lot.
7. I overheard some folks talking about
having different vendors on site such as Tim Hortons, maybe
you could look into this, they could be great sponsors also.
8. As I said, just a little feedback for
you. This was my third year for this tri and I plan on doing
it again next year. Still trying to reach the top 3 in my age
group, having placed 5th the two years I did the sprint race.
I won't mention my placement for the F1 last year, yikes.
Good Luck with rest of the years events!
Thanks, Mike

Dear Score
This!!!,
Just wanted to say thank you again for a wonderful Summer Sizzler
Triathlon this year. I am always impressed and pleased with
how well that race is run, and this year I thought was better
than ever.
I
really enjoyed the wave start used this year, as did everyone
I talked to. Fast swimmers, slow swimmers... didn't matter,
everyone preferred this start over the mass start. And great
job trimming the seaweeds this year! The volunteers did an
excellent job, the organization was fantastic.
The
closest I can come to criticism, and really, it's not, is that
I didn't know how dark it would be at 5 am at the park. I
would've brought a flashlight or something. That's my
fault. I didn't mind the earliness of the race at all, just
wished or thought there would be more lighting. But I don't
think you should have to light up the transition area... maybe
just advise people headlamps or flashlights are a good idea if
you're getting there early.
Top
to bottom, just a wonderful event. And I wanted to say thank
you, in case not enough other people showed their
appreciation.
Respectfully
submitted, Mark

Dear Score This!!!,
I just wanted to extend my appreciation to your company and
its affiliates for all the hard work and dedication you put
into the triathlons you sponsor. Yesterday (Beaver Island) was
mine and my husband's second triathlon (first one was at Evangola State
Park - try a tri) ever and we've enjoyed both experiences so
much, and will continue doing them! The time trial start was
so well organized, as were the race courses, and everything
else. As new tri-athletes we've been welcomed to these races
and are comforted knowing these events are organized well and
are safe! Thanks again for great races!!
Sincerely, Marcie , Williamsville, New York Riverside

Great race! I was worried about
getting mixed up in F1 transition but smooth as silk. Also,
the time trial start was great...traffic free swim. Thanks!

Jeff,
Great job on the timings so far this year! It's nice having
the sheets up so quickly and having them be so accurate.
Now if I can just knock about a minute off of my 5K time. I'm
working on it!

To Whom It May Concern: Just
wanted to say thanks for putting on a great triathlon at Keuka
College this past Sunday. As always, it was well-organized
and very fun. I look forward to doing it again in the future!
Sincerely, Aileen Keuka Lake Tri 2010
Hey Rich and Bob,
Just want to say thanks for4 all your hard work. It’s awesome
to know that when I go to a score this race or a race that you
guys are coordinating and timing, that it will be done with
professionalism and it will be reliable. This is just my
hobby, but I really appreciate all the hard work that you guys
put into it to make sure that we receive more than what we
paid for.
Your races have provided me with
memorable experiences and the opportunities to meet new
friends and compete in friendly and intense competitions with
old friends.
Thanks! My Best, Joe September 2009
I wanted to write a quick but very
important email to all that race triathlon or multisport or
even running and cycling races.
Andy and I decided that this year would be dedicated to volunteering and
working races instead of racing. We wanted to give back a bit
for the years that we have been taking and racing. We are both
Ironman, marathoners, 5k's and have both done off road as
well.
What we learned this year first
and foremost... is that it is harder to volunteer than to
race:) Secondly, we have seen first hand what goes in to the
event you are attending. These races CANNOT happen without the
help of others. The work team at the Finger Lakes Triathlon
worked continuously for about 30 hours with a small break to
sleep and eat to put on that event. It hosted over 1200
athletes, adults and children and was one of the most well
organized events I have witnessed. This does not just happen!
I would ask everyone in the
group to take a look at where they can help. Do you have a
family member coming to watch? Are you injured and can't race?
Just recovering from a big race and have the day off? Getting
ready for Ironman and there to watch???? Especially athletes
that know the ropes. You are SO VALUABLE! If everyone
volunteered for one race a season, it would keep entry fees
down, run races more efficiently and make lighter work for
all!
Pick one race a year and make
it YOUR turn to give back. You will be that much more
appreciative for the work of others! Kara:)
Thanks for another great event, Score This!!!.
A bunch of us long time athletes were talking about how you
guys always manage to keep the small town flavor in your
races- include no temper tantrums, always a kind word for all
the competitors and a fantastic group of volunteers with
patience unlimited
Include recognition of first timers, kids races, fast results,
unusual awards, door prizes and you have found the secret to
success..
Carolyn - Riverside Federal Credit Union Summer Sizzler 2009
Props to you for another great triathlon! I think your races are
the most smoothly run of any I've been in. It was great to have
perfect conditions for the race as well!
Kate Leary - Clark Companies A Tri in the Buff 2009
I would like to take a second and thank you, so much, for
allowing me to challenge the limits of my comfort level and do
something I never thought I would ever do. I thoroughly enjoyed
the Try a Tri - in large part because I knew I could stand up in
the water if all went wrong. I am awed by how enormous an
undertaking this is for you in terms of organizing. You did an
amazing job! Thank you for all that you did. I really enjoyed
myself - once it was over. ha ha ha. Seriously, thanks.
Mary Claire - Clark Companies A Tri in the Buff 2009
Hello. This is just a quick note to thank you for a great day
at the Keuka Lake Triathlon. This was my second triathlon (but
my first in 19 years) and I loved every minute of it. The
organization your group put into this event shows clearly in how
smoothly the day went, from my start at 7:35 to my son's race
(the kids duathlon) at 11:30. I liked hearing my name and other
people's too when they ran through. My son shared his
experience and medal with his class the next day and is the envy
of the 3rd grade. I couldn't believe that the results were
online before I got home that afternoon. I had a great time,
felt safe, and met lots of great people. I will definitely see
you next year at this event and also at Finger Lakes Tri this
year (I think you are scoring that one too).
Thanks for a great day!

Rich, Great job
on the event yesterday. I really enjoyed the race and will be
back. Regards, Ty June 8th, 2009
First, I must tell you that I am VERY impressed with all that your
group does in organizing a tri. From what I could tell, there is a
lot of detail and organization to hold a successful tri. When we
first arrived, we met some friends near the transition area, which
was not set up yet. When we returned a few hours later, the entire
transition area was set up. It was incredible to see how fast a
huge area of grass had been completely transformed into a
transition area. I'm sure you do much more than what I saw. So
impressive.
Brenda Spillman June 8th, 2009 about the Keuka Lake Tri
I just want to say you folks put on an awesome, awesome race at
Keuka today. It's been 15 years since I've done a tri. I'm glad I
go of the couch for this one. Thanks, Bob Lasky #547 June 7th,
2009 about the Keuka Lake Tri
To Whom it May Concern,
I continue to be very impressed with your company. Being from
Rochester, I do not get the opportunity to attend a lot of the
events you time, but of the handful I have attended, they were
spot on. Last night was no exception. The entire night, Score-This
promoted a professional attitude and wonderful guidance. It was my
first time at the Glen, and it was an awesome experience. I look
forward to the Finger Lakes Tri where I will see you folks again.
John R. Ghidiu May 2009
In 2008
I decided to give triathlons a shot. I searched around and found
the multisport series put on by Score-This.
I entered all 4 events. The 3 Olympics; Keuka Lake Triathlon, Tri
In The Buff at Angola and The Finger Lakes Triathlon as well as
the unique Formula 1 format called the Summer Sizzler held at
Beaver Island .
Score-This
has always done an outstanding job as the timing company for the
different road races I participated in, but their talent as
multisport race organizers leaves little to be desired. From the
opening of transition on race day through the awards ceremony
nothing is left to chance and there is always some from their
company to answer any questions and lend a helping hand.
The logistics
in handling the 3 different disciplines as well as running the
different race distances; Olympic, Sprint and Duathlons
simultaneously with race participants exceeding 1000 competitors
is mind boggling but they handle all smoothly and efficiently. A
kid’s tri is also scheduled and is run at the end of the main
races and prior to the awards ceremony making it a true family
affair and something that is a blast to watch. In addition to the
races they also sponsor clinics for beginners the day prior to the
race at the race venues helping those that are nervous or have
last minute questions.
Completing
your first tri is a major accomplishment and everyone that does so
at one of these events is awarded with a finisher’s medal to
recognize their accomplishment regardless of their finish. I was
lucky enough to race on a year where the hardware given to the
winners was not a just another trophy or plaque to gather dust but
rather the coolest pins that you have ever seen and could wear
proudly out with your friends. Nothing starts a conversation
better then some tri bling.
To top of the
season off Score-This offers a banquet to celebrate the athletes
accomplishments and to re-live the past race season. The banquet
is FREE of charge to any athlete that has competed in at
least 3 of the 4 events. They go even further by giving away
significant product geared to towards the sport at the banquet and
everyone leaves with something because it is placed on each table
and is free for the taking.
To anyone
looking to race in the multiple sport arena you cannot go wrong by
participating in any of the races put on by Score This!!!. My only
recommendation is register early as most races sell out weeks in
advance. I myself am already registered for the 2009 season.

Dude - you guys did a great job on the organization of the
event. As a first-timer I had a blast and can't wait to make the
Keuka Tri an annual event....

Dear Score-This:
I am writing on behalf of John Noe (bib number330; dob:
11/18/1956) - his name was misspelled in the results. He is listed
as John Now, but his actual name is John Noe. Is it possible to
correct in your system? He is technologically challenged, so he
asked that I look into this for him. No big deal if this change
cannot be made. Thanks so much, and thanks for all the wonderful
work you do! Wendy
I will forward this and get it taken care of for him. The new
results with the correction will probably post tomorrow morning.
Rich
Thanks for your speedy reply and follow-up - impressive, as usual!
Thanks again, Wendy
Favorite thing about the
Y-10, having the national anthem sung before the start and knowing
that I don't get paid millions for playing. Whoever sang it did a
great job, that stuff just fires me up. Great job again Jeff.
Pat
Agreed! But I
thought you guys said it was a tough course? This was my first
time on the Y-10 and I’ll have to say the course was great, and so
was the weather. Nice running to all and it was good to see
everyone out there and in such good shape, for a race so early in
the season.
As an added benefit the pictures on the ‘score this’ site are of
extreme professional quality, the kind you would normally have to
pay through the nose for, Thanks!
Lloyd
I think its a tough course.
We don't have many hills up here in the great lakes plains, so
when you have 1 or 2 of significant grade, its hilly! As for the
weather, perfect.
Nice to see a good turnout. I think its fair to say that Jeff and his crew
have become the premier organizers of road races in WNY.
Brian
First, a very specific thanks for having veggie burgers at FLT
this weekend. This vegetarian was very appreciative (as she was
very hungry and didn't plan her pre-race fueling strategy very
well!)
Also, just wanted to compliment the entire Score This!!! team.
In my first season of doing triathlon and not really knowing a lot
about what I was doing, I always felt well taken care of at the
three ST!!! events I did this year. People answered questions,
were helpful and most importantly were fun and made me smile, even
as I was terribly nervous about 80 percent of the time. It made my
first season extremely enjoyable and already has me looking
forward to next season.
Thanks again,
Amy Mo
Just wanted to drop a note and thank you and your staff for a
great first time experience. I was part of the Wegmans tri team, a
lot of us were first timers. I appreciated the time that you and
your organization took to walk us through everything and answer so
many questions that we all had. Your team put my mind at ease
about a lot of the unknowns. Thank you for also having the site up
and being able to review the results so fast. As I said there were
a lot of us out of the 29 Wegmans' participants that were first
timers, about 22 of us, and it looks as though most of us have
gotten hooked and look forward to this event next year and the
years to come, with each year our team growing and growing. I do
regret not being able to get in the picture with the other first
timers you posted on your site, would have like to gotten all of
our team there, but we were lucky enough to be given a great
reception back at Wegmans. Once again, thank you for the support
and opportunity to be a first time triathlete at your race.
Thank you,
Carl Curtiss
What a great race on Sunday!! Thanks for all your planning and
hard work to make it a successful event! As a first timer, I was
really pleased with the organization and overall atmosphere of the
event. Suzanne Sharp
My whole family participated in this year's triathlon. My
daughters all commented on how official they felt. Thanks. Terri
Northrup
I was really impressed on how large the Tri has grown and the
variety of athletes doing it, from rookies to veterans. Carl Grimm
The race was a huge success from my viewpoint. Very well
organized and great volunteers in all respects! Thanks for putting
on a first class event. Brian Reh
Thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderful event today!
This was my first triathlon, and I was extremely nervous for the
swim portion (I am NOT a good swimmer). The sprint swim course is
probably one of the best introductions to tri's around - I get
very anxious in water over my head, but the guys in kayaks were
responsive and all around awesome. They helped to calm my nerves
and I was able to successfully complete my first tri today! I
imagine that the logistics of an event of this nature and this
size are extremely hard to manage. But you guys pulled it off and
I had a wonderful time. My goal was to finish with a smile on my
face, and at the end, I had a grin from ear to ear! The announcer
was awesome, the course was awesome and the weather was awesome
(for a tri). I live in Rochester, so I do not normally participate
in Score-This events, but I made it to the Dash for the Dome and
the Shamrock run this year, and you guys bring your A-game to the
events. Kudos! The only area of opportunity that I saw was the
bike course on Lakeshore. I found it difficult to pass between the
college and the finish because the lane was so narrow. I
understand that the road needed to be opened to let traffic flow,
so I do not have any suggestions on how to improve that. But I did
want to bring it to your attention. Again, a *wonderful* job
today!
See you next year for sure, John Ghidiu
It was great and loved my T shirt! Looking forward to next
year! MelodyThorpe
I will certainly recommend your event to others who are looking
for their first triathlon experience and Score This to those who
are looking for a professional time keeping organization. Pamela
McCarthy
I wanted to thank you and everyone at the Center for an amazing
event. Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed. It was
my first year, and I can gladly say, not my last. It is truly
amazing! Adam Slevin
Just wanted to drop a note and thank you and your staff for a
great first time experience. Carl Curtiss
Thanks so much! It was a great race, and I look forward to it
next year. Jen LaBuda
Thanks to you and your many volunteers ! Another
well-organized, fun event. Congratulations ! Growing each year,
too, for a worthy cause.
Jeff Meissner
Congratulations on a very successful event. Elaine Thibideau
You folks really did a first rate job. Congratulations! Lee
Michaels
The race yesterday was fantastic! Karen Lemischak
What a great day! Jerry & I had so much fun volunteering &
heard only positive feedback from everyone! Marilyn Passer
I just wanted to say Thank You for such a fun weekend! You did
an outstanding job with the triathalon! Maria Faleti
Excellent race. The courses are interesting and scenic, traffic
control was great, and your organization of 1000 athletes for 2
events (I and S) was superb. Keep up the good work. Sam Sampere
Today's event was very well run and enjoyed by our whole
family. Great job!!

Great job putting on this whole race today......Kristen Brennan
We had a wonderful, fabulous time. Cindy and Dave Lapoff
Thank you for organizing such a fun event for such a great
cause, I had a wonderful time.

About the Keuka Lake Triathlon 2008 - Dude - you guys did a
great job on the organization of the event. As a first-timer I had
a blast and can't wait to make the Keuka Tri an annual event....
Derek
I really enjoyed the race on Sunday. Score-This, race director,
race crew and the volunteers all did a great job. You were well
organized, on time, and the large turnout made the race a big time
venue. The course was challenging but fun, well marked, and just
like you described. A great end to a great season of racing. Great
post race food too. –Daryl FLT 2007

Here are a few kinds word from a race director about our
consultant services:
"I
volunteered to organize a triathlon for local charities. None of
us on the planning committee had any experience organizing such
an event. In fact no one on the committee had ever competed in a
triathlon. Rich Clark and his team at Score - This guided us
through the organization process. They prepared a budget and
management plan. Most valuable was the follow-up. As we
proceeded with our plans Rich was available to answer questions
and introduce us to others who could help. The result was a
very successful event. The race was a sell-out. All
participants enjoyed the event and funds were raised for local
charities."
